To all Cobblestone Card Holders and Guests,
As we enter the growing season, you might have noticed some damaged patches of our greens. We want to take a moment to explain what happened, why it occurred, and what to expect moving forward.
The primary cause of these issues is known as winterkill, which impacts bermudagrass during harsh winter conditions. This winter, a combination of several environmental factors including:
- Prolonged extreme cold temperatures
- Excessive shade
- Freeze thaw cycles
- Traffic and wear
created ideal conditions for our course to experience the winterkill, ultimately leading to turf loss in certain areas.
Our team is actively working to restore the greens through targeted fertilization, careful moisture management, traffic control, light top dressing, solid tine aeration and reestablishing affected areas where necessary. During the first two weeks of June (June1-12), after our scheduled aerification, we plan on having temporary greens on all 18 holes while we sod the areas that don’t recover. Bermudagrass is very resilient during the growing season, and as temperatures continue to rise, we expect to steady improvement in the weeks ahead.
We remain on track for our upcoming bunker renovation and additional cart path repairs.
We understand how important course conditions are to your experience, and we truly appreciate your patience as the greens recover. Our goal is to provide the best possible playing conditions while safeguarding the long-term health of the course.
Sincerely,
Paul, Ashley and Bobby
